Twenty-one years after the attack on the AMIA Jewish community centre, a trial against 13 suspects is set to start on August 6.
Former president Carlos Menem will be sitting in the dock along with former judge Juan José Galeano and the two prosecutors who were in charge of the investigation into the worst-ever terrorist attack suffered by the country. All face charges for allegedly trying to cover-up the bombing.
On March 1, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner accused the Supreme Court of deliberately delaying the trial into the AMIA cover-up. Though he denied the allegations, Chief Justice Ricardo Lorenzetti requested the Federal Cassation Court to start with the hearings as soon as possible.
